AskFred is a thoughtful interface for asking questions about meetings that already happened. We solve a different problem: the moment in the call when the other side has just asked something and you need to respond now. Live Audio Sessions auto-trigger when the other side pauses, draft a 3–5 sentence answer grounded in your resume and the JD, and surface it on the side panel in seconds. ⌘⇧⏎ to fire one manually any time. ⌘⇧L for quiet transcript-only mode when you just want a record.

No bot, no Fred announcement, transcripts stay local

Every Fireflies call has the same opening beat: Fred joins the meeting and announces itself, then everything is recorded into the team workspace cloud. Useful for sales coaching, awkward in interviews and casual conversations. We don't join the call — the desktop app captures system audio directly from your machine, the other side never sees an extra participant. Every Live Audio session is auto-saved on your machine with OS keychain encryption, never uploaded to our servers, never indexed for AI training, never shared with a workspace.

How is InterviewCodeAssist different from Fireflies.ai?

Different audience and different timing. Fireflies is a team product — sales call libraries, CRM sync, deal coaching, conversation analytics, per-seat pricing. We are a single-user desktop app for one person running interviews and ad-hoc meetings. On the AI side, Fireflies focuses on AskFred queries about past meetings; we focus on live answers during the call when the other side just asked something and you need to respond.

If I'm on a sales team, should I still consider this?

Honestly, if you need CRM sync, shared call libraries, conversation analytics, and team coaching dashboards, Fireflies is the better fit. We don't have those. Where we make sense for sales reps: solo prep before high-stakes calls, calls where you don't want a bot to join, or as a personal layer on top of whatever team tool your org standardized on.

Does it have something like AskFred?

Sort of. Every Live Audio session is auto-saved when it ends — full transcript, AI answers, translations — encrypted locally on your device. ⌘⇧H opens the searchable history; you can scroll, search across sessions, and export to Markdown. We don't have an AskFred-style natural-language chat across all your past calls because that's their core competence — we'd be a worse Fireflies at it.

Does it capture both sides of the meeting?

No, just the other side (system audio). Fireflies' bot captures everyone once it has joined the meeting. We capture only system audio and explicitly do not capture your microphone — your own voice during a session is never recorded or transmitted. The trade-off: our transcripts won't show what you said, but your side stays private. For interview / sales-call use cases this is the right default.

What about pricing?

Fireflies starts free with limits, then $18/seat/month Pro, $29/seat/month Business, custom Enterprise — pricing built around team seats. We're $30/month, $180/year ($15/mo billed annually), or $10/week. The $10/week tier is the bigger differentiator — if you only need help for a single interview loop, you don't commit to anything monthly. There's no seat math because there's no team.

Will I lose my Fireflies history if I switch?

Fireflies transcripts live in their cloud workspace — export them before switching if you want to keep them. Our archive is local-only by design, so there's no migration in either direction.
